On behalf of NACDC Financial Services, I cordially invite you to the 2018 Celebration of Native Plains Artists during Western Art Week in Great Falls March 15-18, 2018. The event showcases the powerful work of Native American artists, one that was so embraced by Charlie Russell.
Since 1996, the Native American Community Development Corporation Financial Services (NACDC FS) has been working with Native American artists to promote their work. In 2016, we approached Chuck Fulcher, President of the Great Western Living & Design show, about featuring Native artists at the show. Participation in the show underscores our efforts to promote the dynamic and powerful work of Native American artists. “So much of Charlie Russell’s work is about Native American life and culture,” says NACDC Financial Services Executive Director Angie Main. Following the success of the 2017 show and the exponential increase in the number of participating Native Artists, NACDC Financial Services elected to create an event in collaboration - but distinctly separate - from the Great Western show. The show has reserved space in the Main Arena next to the Great Western Living & Design Exhibition, and will feature the artists in a unique space, complete with a full-size tipi, cultural artifacts, and the traditional Native dancers on Friday evening. Visitors will see the work of internationally-known Native Artists including Darrell Norman, Albertine Crow Shoe, John Isaiah Pepion, Lindy Racine, Terrance Guardipee, and more. In addition to helping artists sell their work, NACDC Financial Services provide programs, resources and education to Native American entrepreneurs and small businesses. Artists can apply for a “Native Artist” line of credit and offers four Montana reservations a Native Artists Professional Development (NAPD) course, teaching Native American artists how to improve their business skills to support themselves as fulltime artists.
